PEVECHOUC: A new material is born

Concerns have been expressed about ecology and PVC waste management. These challenges have encouraged the plastics industry to develop technologies aiming at continuous improvement of the environmental impact of its materials.
After several years of research, the company B.Chaize SA at Buchelay (78 France) has developed an innovating procedure (Patent nr 06/02237) for a unique process to recycle coated fabrics of plasticised soft PVC and textile fibres. This covers both production waste and end of life vehicle material:
  • see dashboards,
  • door panelss,
  • car interiors,
  • tarpaulins,
  • ...
A low speed shearing procedure makes it possible to process flexible PVC production waste containing up to 30% textile, polyamides, cotton or polyesters. After grinding and compacting granules are produced whereby the fibres are perfectly coated with the PVC.
Based on this unique procedure a new type material under the brand name "Pévéchouc" has been registered.
This new material is suitable for numerous applications and can be welded, sealed, stitched, painted, printed ...and recycled once more.

Pévéchouc: Where to use it?

Today B.Chaize is developing partnerships with designers and industrial companies interested to produce and commercialise all kinds of end-uses with this novelty material.
  • Pévéchouc is available in 4 to 6 mm granules, ready to use as such or mixed with other polymers.>
  • Pévéchouc can be injection moulded, extruded or calendered.
  • Calendered sheet is available in a range of sizes: width from 300 to 650 mm and with a thickness of 0.8mm. This opens the way for numerous applications:
    • Synthetic leather for bags, luggage, handbags, wallets...
    • Shoe soles
    • Wheels for containers, wheel-barrows, trolleys...
    • Home decoration, insulation, entertainment....
    • Gardening utensils.

The "Clakett": a key application for Pévéchouc

Via Injection moulding of Pévéchouc, the "Clakett" is produced. This one-piece soft plastic flip-flop slipper is easy to store, slip-proof, easy to clean or disinfect and can be decorated at discretion.
These Claketts "to be decorated" are commercialised via specialized design companies making the Claketts fashionable and attractive. This opens important market perspectives.

Pévéchouc (R) was rewarded a gold medal
at the 2006 Concours Lépine in Paris:
Inventors Patent nr 0602237 , and the medal of "Ministère de l'Ecologie et du Développement Durable" in 2007.
